I have ended what Thomas has started nearly three weeks ago. Starting from Ljubelj pass at 1.058 m you only need 1.002 m to reach the top of Begunjscica. Zelenica above Ljubelj is very popular. Easy to reach from Kranj, Ljubljana or Klagenfurt . The most common approach to Begunjscica is over "Sentanski plaz" and after you reach the ridge another 10 minutes to the West. In normal conditions you can reach the top with skis on your foot. Second popular ascent goes through "Centralna grapa" and takes you directly to the top. Centralna grapa iz steeper and for the last 200 h.m. you have to carry skis on your back.
Today it was a perfect day. After job I started From Ljubelj at 4 p.m. The snow on the North sice of Begunjscica is more or less in the shadow and it was wery compact. Over "Sentanski plaz" I reached the top in 1 hour and 20 minutes. Even it was a working day there was a lot of ski tourers on the mountain. At the top there was 10 of us plus one dog. I was skiing down via "Centralna grapa". Conditions were perfect. Hard snow, a remarkable quantity of snow made steep or narrow passes much easyer. In only 15 minutes I was down by the car.
I started at the end. I still have a debt from last weekend in Austria.
